Annamalai appointed BJP Tamil Nadu unit president | Chennai Information – Instances of India

CHENNAI: Former Karnataka IPS officer K Annamalai was on Thursday appointed as president of BJP’s Tamil Nadu unit.
BJP national president J P Nadda had appointed K Annamalai as the state president of Tamil Nadu BJP, said national general secretary Arun Singh in a statement.
His appointment comes a day after former party state unit president L Murugan was sworn in as a Union minister.
After quitting the IPS service, Annamalai joined the BJP in August 2020. Soon, he was appointed as the state-vice president of the party. He is well connected with national leadership, particularly the party’s general secretary (organisation) B L Santhosh.
Annamalai contested unsuccessfully from Aravakuruchi constituency in the recent assembly election in Tamil Nadu.
Party sources said the elevation of Murugan as MoS was to clear the deck for Annamalai and set the party’s tune for the 2024 Lok Sabha polls. The national leadership wants a dynamic and vibrant leader to head the state unit in Tamil Nadu, which is a tough terrain for the party.
